Basel: No trams between Barfüsserplatz and Marktplatz for 10 weeks

Beginning June 29, 2026, the Department of Construction and Transportation (BVD) and the Basler Verkehrs-Betriebe (BVB) will undertake significant renovations on the tram tracks at Marktplatz. This project will result in a complete suspension of tram services between Barfüsserplatz and Marktplatz until September 6, 2026. The affected tram lines include 1, 3, 6, 8, 11, 14, 15, 16, and 17, which will be rerouted during this period.

The decision to renovate the tracks comes as part of ongoing efforts to maintain and improve the infrastructure of Basel's public transport system.
