Hellenic Train Signs Landmark Contract with Alstom for Coradia Stream Fleet

Hellenic Train, the national railway operator of Greece, has entered into a significant rolling stock agreement with Alstom for the procurement of 23 new Coradia Stream electric multiple units (EMUs). This contract is valued at up to €393 million.

The agreement marks a pivotal development in Hellenic Train’s efforts to modernize its fleet and enhance passenger services across its network. The new Coradia Stream units are designed to improve operational efficiency and passenger comfort.

Delivery of the new trains is scheduled to commence in 2025, with the aim of integrating them into the existing fleet to support both regional and intercity services. The introduction of these EMUs is expected to contribute to the overall modernization of Greece’s rail infrastructure.

Alstom’s Coradia Stream trains are known for their energy efficiency and advanced technology, which aligns with Hellenic Train’s sustainability goals. The units will be equipped with features aimed at reducing energy consumption and minimizing environmental impact.

This contract is part of a broader strategy by Hellenic Train to enhance its service offerings and increase the attractiveness of rail travel in Greece. The investment in new rolling stock is expected to play a crucial role in achieving these objectives.

In addition to the procurement of new trains, Hellenic Train is also focusing on upgrading existing infrastructure and improving customer service to meet the growing demand for rail transport in the region.

The collaboration with Alstom is seen as a key step in Hellenic Train’s ongoing efforts to modernize its operations and provide a reliable and efficient rail service to its customers.
