Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM) has announced the construction of a new Bus Operational Center (COB) in Versailles Saint-Cyr, with an investment exceeding €34 million. This initiative is part of a broader strategy aimed at transitioning the bus and coach fleet in the Île-de-France region towards more energy-efficient operations.
The total investment for fleet renewal and infrastructure upgrades in Île-de-France amounts to €5.7 billion, which will be allocated through 2029. Of this, €1.5 billion is specifically earmarked for the construction or conversion of operational bus centers. The new center in Versailles is designed to accommodate a fleet of 140 buses, including 112 standard buses and 28 articulated buses, thereby enhancing the operational capacity of public transport in the area.
This development is expected to improve maintenance conditions significantly. By providing modern facilities, IDFM aims to ensure that the fleet operates more efficiently and meets the growing demand for public transport services in the region. The operational center will also play a crucial role in supporting the transition to greener technologies, aligning with the regional government's sustainability goals.
Local residents will benefit from improved public transport services, while bus operators will gain from enhanced maintenance capabilities, potentially leading to reduced operational costs and improved service reliability. This project reflects IDFM's commitment to modernizing public transport infrastructure and promoting sustainable mobility solutions in Île-de-France.
