Maersk, Laude and Loconi Launch New Gdańsk-Ukraine Service
Danish shipping company Maersk has announced the launch of a new rail service connecting the Polish port of Gdańsk with Ukraine. This initiative is made possible through a collaboration with Laude Smart Intermodal and Loconi.
The new service aims to enhance logistics efficiency for container transport between Poland and Ukraine, addressing the growing demand for reliable supply chain solutions in the region. The partnership leverages Laude’s intermodal expertise and Loconi’s rail capabilities to facilitate seamless transportation.
Containers will be transported from Gdańsk to various destinations in Ukraine, including key cities such as Kyiv and Lviv. This service is expected to significantly reduce transit times compared to traditional road transport methods.
Maersk’s commitment to expanding its intermodal services aligns with its strategy to provide integrated logistics solutions. The company aims to support businesses in Ukraine by offering a more efficient and sustainable transport option.
The new rail service is set to commence operations in early November 2023, with an initial frequency of three trains per week. This frequency is expected to increase based on demand and operational capacity.
Stakeholders in the rail and logistics sectors are encouraged to explore this new service as a viable option for transporting goods between Poland and Ukraine. The collaboration between Maersk, Laude, and Loconi represents a strategic move to strengthen supply chain connectivity in Eastern Europe.
