Poland’s Koleje Mazowieckie Completes Record Order with 11 Additional Stadler FLIRTs

Poland’s regional rail operator, Koleje Mazowieckie, has finalized its Stadler framework agreement by ordering 11 additional FLIRT (Fast Light Innovative Regional Train) electric multiple units (EMUs). This order marks the completion of what the operator describes as the largest procurement in its history.

The latest order follows previous acquisitions under the same framework, bringing the total number of FLIRT units ordered by Koleje Mazowieckie to 41. The operator has been expanding its fleet to enhance regional connectivity and improve service quality across its network.

The new FLIRT units are expected to be delivered by the end of 2024. These trains are designed to operate efficiently on various routes, providing flexibility and reliability for regional transport. The addition of these EMUs will support Koleje Mazowieckie’s commitment to modernizing its fleet and meeting increasing passenger demand.

Stadler, the manufacturer of the FLIRT trains, has a strong presence in the European rail market, known for its innovative designs and technology. The FLIRT model is recognized for its energy efficiency, passenger comfort, and operational versatility, making it a suitable choice for regional operators.

Koleje Mazowieckie serves the Masovian Voivodeship, including the capital city of Warsaw, and plays a crucial role in the regional transport network. The operator aims to enhance its service offerings and reduce travel times for commuters and travelers in the region.

This procurement aligns with Poland’s broader strategy to modernize its rail infrastructure and improve public transport services. The investment in new rolling stock is part of ongoing efforts to increase the attractiveness of rail travel as a sustainable transport option.
