Turkey’s First Domestically Produced High-Speed Train Nears Completion, Test Runs Set for 2026

Turkey’s first nationally produced electric high-speed train has reached 90% physical completion, with test runs scheduled for 2026, Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced.

The train is designed to operate at a maximum speed of 225 km/h. It aims to enhance the country’s rail transport capabilities and reduce travel times between major cities.

Uraloğlu highlighted that the project is part of Turkey’s broader strategy to develop its domestic manufacturing capabilities in the rail sector. The train is being developed by Turkish company TÜRASAŞ, which focuses on producing advanced rail vehicles.

The high-speed train project is expected to contribute significantly to Turkey’s economy by creating jobs and fostering technological advancements in the rail industry. The government has invested heavily in infrastructure to support the expansion of high-speed rail services across the country.

In addition to the high-speed train, TÜRASAŞ is also working on other rail projects, including freight trains and suburban trains, to meet the growing demand for efficient rail transport.

The completion of the high-speed train is anticipated to bolster Turkey’s position in the global rail market, as the country seeks to export its rail technology and products to other nations.

As the test runs approach, further details regarding the operational features and specifications of the train will be released, providing insights into its performance capabilities.
