SYSTRA Secures Contract for Taiwan’s High-Speed Rail Upgrade

SYSTRA has been awarded a contract for the modernisation of Taiwan’s high-speed rail fleet, through a collaboration with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI). Under the agreement, SYSTRA will carry out the independent safety assessment (ISA) of upgraded on-board automatic train control (ATC) systems installed on high-speed trainsets. The work forms part of a wider programme to enhance the operational efficiency and safety of the rail network.

This initiative is crucial as Taiwan continues to invest in its transportation infrastructure to meet increasing passenger demand and improve service reliability. The upgraded ATC systems are expected to contribute significantly to the overall performance of the high-speed rail services.

SYSTRA’s expertise in rail systems engineering and safety assessments positions the company well to support this important project. The collaboration with MHI, a leader in heavy industries, further strengthens the capabilities brought to the table for this upgrade.

The timeline for the project and specific financial details have not been disclosed. However, the partnership underscores a commitment to advancing Taiwan’s high-speed rail technology and ensuring compliance with international safety standards.

As the project progresses, stakeholders in the rail industry will be closely monitoring developments, particularly regarding the implementation of the new ATC systems and their impact on service delivery.

This contract marks a significant step for SYSTRA in the Asia-Pacific region, reflecting the company’s growing influence in global rail modernization efforts.
